Networks

Terra Nuova participates in various local, national and international networks and institutions, to promote and defend their values and demands.

On an international level, we participate in processes that involve civil society in those United Nations institutions that work on agriculture and food:

  • Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)Under the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), the UN forum that monitors policies affecting global food security, including food production and the physical and economic access to food, Terra Nuova is an active member of the Civil Society Mechanism (CSM), which was initiated after a 2009 reform of the CFS. The goal of the CSM is to influence policy and action on agriculture, food security and nutrition, at a national, regional and global level.
  • International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).Under the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Terra Nuova supports peasant organisations in the Farmers' Forum, a process of dialogue and consultation, initiated in 2005, between small-scale farmers' organisations and rural producers, IFAD and governments, focusing on rural development and poverty reduction.

Furthermore, Terra Nuova is a member of the Global Network for the Right to Food and Nutrition, an initiative managed by civil society organisations and international social movements, on the right to adequate food and nutrition, as well as of More and Better, an international network to support food, agriculture and rural development, with the aim of eradicating hunger and poverty.

At European level, we participate in the European Confederation of NGOs, Concord, and at national level, in the platform Concord Italia.

Terra Nuova is also a member of CELEP, a European coalition that carries out lobbying activities on behalf of East African sheep farmers, and of the Alternative Trade Mandate, an alliance of over 50 organisations that come together to develop an alternative vision of European trade policies, in which people and the planet come before big business.

On a local level, we are a part of the Citizen Committee for Decentralised Cooperation in Rome (CCCD), and of Cooperation Lazio, the association of NGOs and international cooperation and solidarity organisations in Lazio.
